OpenAI registers hundreds of domains for ChatGPT Atlas

When OpenAI launched its ChatGPT Atlas browser, it registered or blocked hundreds of "chatgptatlas" names across nearly every top-level domain, from .fun to .realty.

It skipped only expensive or restricted endings. The article argues this kind of blanket defensive registration rarely works, because squatters can simply change a letter. A single strong, exact-match name does more for a brand.
