What 43 public .ai domain sales tell us about which names sell
Which .ai domains actually sell, and for how much? We collected every publicly reported .ai sale we could verify, 43 in total, from Music.ai in 2018 to Bot.ai at $1.2 million in February 2026. Each one is listed with its source on our .ai domain sales records page. Here is what the numbers say.
The headline numbers
- 43 sales, worth about $9 million in total (42 in US dollars, plus Mini.ai at €100,000).
- The median price is $115,000. Half of the sales were above that.
- 35 of the 42 dollar sales reached $100,000 or more, and 12 reached $250,000 or more.
- The top three: Bot.ai ($1.2 million), Wisdom.ai ($750,000) and You.ai ($700,000).
Shorter names sell for more
We grouped the sales by the length of the name in front of .ai:
- 2–4 characters (Bot, You, Law, NPC, Zip, Leo, Golf…): 11 sales, median $200,000.
- 5–6 characters (Wisdom, Cloud, Lotus, Speed, Vision…): 16 sales, median $115,000.
- 7 or more characters (Blockchain, Perform, Precise, Velocity…): 15 sales, median $110,000.
The shortest names sold for almost twice as much as the longer ones. That matches the rest of the domain market: short names are easier to remember, type and build a brand on, and there are far fewer of them. See our short .ai domains for names of 2–4 characters.
Real words win
Almost every name on the list is a real English word or a common name: Cloud, Lotus, Speed, Vision, Climb, Engage, Music. Invented names are rare. Terafab.ai, bought by SpaceX for $174,257, is one of the few, and it was bought by a company that already used the name. A clear word works as a product name, a company name and an easy address to say out loud.
2026 is the busiest year so far
Of the 43 sales, 22 happened in 2026 (up to October), against 9 in 2025, 4 in 2024 and 6 in 2023. Six-figure .ai sales used to be rare news. Now several are reported in the same month, as AI companies look for a short, memorable address.
What this means if you are buying
- A short, one-word .ai name holds its value. The data shows buyers pay a clear premium for length and clarity.
- Public sales are the top of the market. These are the deals big enough to be reported. Many good .ai names change hands for less, especially longer or brandable ones.
- Compare before you offer. Use the sales records and our .ai domain value estimator to see where a name fits.
Every domain on 4ai is open to offers. Browse our .ai domains and make an offer on any of them: we reply within 24 hours, payment goes through Escrow and buyers pay no fees.
