Semify.ai stays with its investor owner after a close WIPO decision
· Summary of an article by Andrew Allemann, Domain Name Wire
SEO company Semify, which uses semify.com, filed a cybersquatting complaint against semify.ai, a name owned by well-known .ai investor James Booth. A three-member WIPO panel refused to transfer the domain.
The panel described it as a close call. The exact match with the trademark, a marketplace listing and a high asking price pointed one way; third-party uses of the word and Booth's long record as an investor pointed the other. In the end Semify could not show that Booth targeted its mark when he bought the name. It was Booth's second win in roughly two months.
