Slovenia's .si logs 20,276 new domains in one day as "Super Intelligence" rename tests .ai
Register.si counted 20,276 new .si registrations in a single 24-hour period, bringing the zone to 298,682 names, after President Trump told the UN on September 22 that AI should be called "Super Intelligence" and then signed a September 29 executive order telling federal agencies to use "SI". August had brought fewer than 2,000 new .si names, and Netcraft found that more than half of the early names bought via Dynadot were quickly listed for resale.
Hostinger says a .si name costs about $12 a year against roughly $90 for .ai with its two-year minimum, and only around 3% of new .si names mention AI. The rush looks largely speculative, while .ai remains the extension the AI industry actually builds on; Hostinger's head of domains described .ai as a second economy for Anguilla and .si as a mere bonus for Slovenia.
