How Much Does a .ai Domain Cost? (2026 Prices)
A .ai domain costs more than a .com, and premium names can cost a lot more. Here is what you pay for a new registration, a renewal and an existing premium name.
Updated
New registration: two years minimum
.ai domains are registered and renewed for at least two years at a time. Since March 5, 2026 the registry charges registrars $160 wholesale for two years (it was $140 before). Registrars add their own markup, so expect to pay somewhat more at checkout.

Renewals
Renewals cost the same as a new registration and also run for two years. About 90% of .ai domains are renewed. Turn on auto-renew: valuable .ai names that expire are auctioned and can be lost, as AI Domain News shows.
Premium names on the aftermarket
Short and one-word .ai names were registered long ago, so you buy them from their owners. Typical ranges:
- Longer two-word names: from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.
- Strong one-word and brandable names: four to six figures.
- Two- and three-letter names and top dictionary words: six to seven figures. The record is Bot.ai at $1.2 million.
